Prospective Transfer Students
Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management (ESPM) is a great program to consider if you are changing majors within the University of Minnesota or transferring from another school. Our major is flexible and allows you to tailor coursework to your educational and career goals. In addition, the number of free electives makes it easy to accommodate a minor or study abroad experience. This creates many opportunities for transfer coursework to count toward the ESPM major directly, or toward electives and liberal education requirements.
In addition, the job outlook for ESPM majors is promising. Over 50% of natural resource managers in the public sector are expected to retire in the next few years, and private consulting firms are vastly expanding their environmental departments to stay on top of regulations. In addition to practical internship and field experience, these employers are looking for graduates with an integrated, problem solving background who have addressed real-world problems during their undergraduate education.
